LED lamps exported to India will implement BIS mandatory certification

August 16, 2017, the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology issued a circular, 13 categories of electronic products will be added to the BIS compulsory certification system, the products related to LED lamps, home appliances with power, smart watches and other products. This notice is to be enforced from 6 months after the date of publication of the announcement, ie 16 February 2018.

It is understood that the Indian import product certification project was originally voluntary certification, but on January 28, 2004, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry Ministry of Foreign Trade issued notice No. 29, requiring all imports of the Indian Bureau of Standards 109 kinds of compulsory import products within the scope of certification products, foreign manufacturers or importers of India must first apply to the Indian Bureau of Standards (BIS) for import product certification, the Customs and Excise Department according to the certificate to release imported goods.

Electric light source and lighting products are Shaoxing region's key export products, involving nearly 100 export enterprises, involving more than 600 million US dollars output value. The updated BIS Mandatory Certification , the third batch of 13 categories of products are lighting products: embedded LED lamps, LED lights and street lamps, LED floodlights, LED portable lights, LED string lights, LED emergency lights, etc. On the second batch has been implemented since the LED ballast lamp, etc. Related to LED lights and lighting products are basically included in the BIS mandatory certification range.
