OSRAM has made great efforts to build the world's largest LED chip factory
OSRAM announced that it will hold an opening ceremony on Nov. 23 for a new facility in Kuching, Malaysia. OSRAM said that the completed plant would become the world's largest and most modern 6-inch wafer LED chip production base.
It is understood that Julin plant covers an area of 100,000 square meters (48 acres). After the completion, it can provide more than 1,500 jobs in Malaysia. The production base is close to the Penang factory, adjacent to the airport and the highway, the location is excellent. Qualified staff and infrastructure provide superior production conditions.
OSRAM said it was expected that by 2020, the general LED lighting market will grow by as much as 7% per year. OSRAM will have further market layout by the new plant.
At present, Julin plant construction work is nearing completion.
It is worth mentioning that, according to Bulgarian media media reports, OSRAM also announced on October 10, the company has 25.6 million euros (equivalent to about 199 million yuan) to invest in its first factory in Bulgaria.
The plant is located in Bulgaria's second largest city near Plovdiv, will be used to manufacture intelligent LED lighting system.
According to OSRAM's statement, the plant construction project will start in late March and officially opened on October 19. It is reported that new production equipment would create more than 900 jobs.
Since the first time in 1998 entering the Bulgarian lighting market, OSRAM has two-digit market share. The OSRAM representative said the company chose Plovdiv as the main channel to enter the European and Eastern European markets.
